The victims were identified as 52-year-old Yorktown man Preyas Patel and 35-year-old Newport News man Logan Edward Thomas.

A media contact for 7-Eleven sent the following statement to 13News Now: “We are heartbroken over the loss of two members of the 7-Eleven family. Our hearts are with their families at this difficult time. We are gathering information and aiding law enforcement officials in their investigation.” -7-Eleven, Inc.

Police first got the call about a “suspicious situation” because a customer noticed there was little activity inside, even though it was supposed to be open.

Currently, police are looking for at least one suspect they believe to be behind the killings.

In another case, in New York, police arrested a homeless man in the 2021 stabbing death of Lindenhurst smoke shop owner Kinshuk Patel.

CBS News reported: “A respected Long Island businessman who was living the American dream was brutally killed one year ago inside his shop…police have just made an arrest.

“So it’s very hard. My whole family was dependent on him. Now we are broke totally,” Ruchika Patel said of her late husband, devoted family man and hard-working businessman Kinshuk Patel. The 33-year-old also left behind his 18-month-old and 5-year-old sons.”

He was killed inside Dapper Smoke Shop in Lindenhurst last year. Police never gave up on the case, linking a homeless man, 44-year-old Yoel Atzmon, with allegedly using a machete to bludgeon the much-loved entrepreneur during what’s believed to have been a botched robbery. He is now undergoing a psychiatric evaluation after his arrest.
