June 23: If you don’t follow India’s domestic cricket, you might not know who Sarfaraz Khan is, or perhaps you did see him briefly in the IPL.
The elegant and prolific Mumbai middle order batsman, created a sensation when he scored his fourth century of the Ranji Trophy season, including in the ongoing final against Madhya Pradesh. He’s now only the third Indian player in Ranji to score more than 900 runs in a season, twice.
Khan, who surely is knocking for a chance in India’s test team, has some incredible stats to his name, including this mind boggling one: he’s only behind Don Bradman for the highest batting average in first-class cricket, with a minimum of 2,000 runs scored. Khan’s average is 82.83. Bradman’s is 95.14.
